RatedPower

A new brand identity at lightning speed

For our more than partners, RatedPower, the cleantech startup that is revolutionizing the renewable energy sector with its solar design software, the game changed in November 2022. After being acquired by Enverus, the world's most significant energy SaaS, they are closer than ever to digitizing renewables and improving the quality of life by making solar the primary energy source. A historic moment and a new path full of opportunities and challenges for RatedPower.

We were fortunate to work with the team on their strategy for this stage and their new brand universe. A new identity to make them travel faster and, above all, further.

A brand to lead

After the immersion process, and once the new brand strategy was validated, we had all the information and resources necessary to put a face and eyes on the new RatedPower, now part of the Enverus group.

Our work on this new identity was guided by three key objectives: to create a coherent and consistent brand universe, to develop a powerful concept that breathes life into the brand strategy, and most importantly, to ensure that this new RatedPower identity is not just in sync, but in perfect harmony with the Enverus brand.

At a strategic level, we had a purpose that was so powerful and relevant at this point in the company's history that it helped us make many decisions to generate this new universe. If RatedPower's purpose is to lead the world in understanding technology as a tool to empower energy engineering and help the planet, it is obvious: the new brand must show that ability to lead the industry.

Strategy comes to life

After conducting research on the visual and verbal codes of the sector, we understood that RatedPower had the potential to present its brand as a hero or heroine of the renewable energy sector. It needed a new identity that reflected in detail its strengths and values.

Updating the visual and verbal identity is not just a step towards unlocking potential and developing a strong market presence. It's a crucial move that will also benefit the giant Enverus, generating significant interest in its brand. RatedPower is on the brink of a new era within the energy sector and it's imperative that it communicates its strengths with crystal clarity and impactful resonance. It's time to translate the strategy into the way RatedPower talks, acts and looks.

Take action

To develop the visual identity, in addition to the connection to the Enverus brand, we looked at the purpose and other key concepts of the strategy. Concepts that revolved around movement, action, moving forward, enabling and empowering others to join the action. We brought these two key aspects together and created a creative concept: building the future of energy together - one of the current Enverus claims - at the speed of light - linked to the acceleration that defines RatedPower.

This integration will help RatedPower achieve its mission faster, it allows them to be even more ambitious, and that energy is transmitted to the new brand. How? By boosting, accelerating some of the elements of the Enverus identity.

Accelerated green

In looking for those elements of Enverus that make sense for the new brand and trying to add that energy to them to build a new identity capable of leading and travelling at the speed of light, we found a key and very distinctive one. Enverus' green color.

This green is our perfect match for many reasons: it is corporate and relates us easily and quickly with Enverus, speaks of green energy, and is also very digital. How can we speed it up to be part of the new identity? We speed it up with shades of green, from the darkest to the lightest, like a ray of light. This range of greens will be our primary palette, but we will have a secondary palette to achieve a rich and versatile new brand.

The new wave

Another critical element of RatedPower is its symbol. To update it, we looked at the Enverus logo, where we found a gesture that conveys movement, a discontinuous rectangle. We adapted it, accelerating it by slightly tilting it to the left, creating a dynamic symbol that reinterprets the waves of the starting point and moves them forward.

By integrating this symbol with the logo, we obtain a fresh image that integrates perfectly with Enverus.

Dynamic compositions

This move will not only advance the new logo. It is something that permeates all the elements of the identity. And so it will be with the graphic system. We start from a horizontally divided canvas and add the shapes of the Enverus logo blocks that we have tilted and accelerated. We create dynamic compositions with different zooms and apply our speed-of-light palette.

The link to the Enverus corporate brand is clear, but it also speaks of RatedPower, reminding us of the aerial views we see through their software and the geometry and tilt of the solar panels. We incorporated line and dot designs into this graphic system, reinterpreting Enverus' Intelligent connections concept.

In this new stage, the images that complete the visual brand experience add a human touch to the compositions. The communications include images of people working and using the software, with shallow depth of field and a touch of green in tune with the palette, bringing naturalness and closeness.

Communicate to empower

RatedPower already had a well-defined voice, but updating it to align it with the new strategy was necessary to drive more relevant communication in this new stage.

Their updated voice is based on a brand personality defined as heroic, visionary and human, with a tone of “empowering knowledge” combining wisdom and action. Through it, RatedPower seeks to help the world better understand the energy transition, sharing knowledge to make wise and quick decisions. And it goes further, challenging solar stakeholders to join its mission to accelerate the transition. It does so with an approachable, vibrant and direct tone, connecting with the community in an inspiring way.

It also conveys this through the two typefaces chosen. The headlines catch the eye with the confidence and uniqueness of Reckless, a font that exudes modern experience. Complementing this, using Roboto for the body text and secondary headlines links us to the Enverus foundation and conveys clarity and legibility.

Energy flow

To achieve our communication objectives, we use resources that reinforce action and movement, such as the present continuous and “-ing” verb forms, conveying that we are actively working to accelerate the energy transition.

In addition, we embrace the concept of “flow,” which reflects a harmonious and efficient flow in all aspects of our communication. This “flow” facilitates intelligent decisions in the industry and strengthens the connection with our environment, helping the renewables sector move toward a more sustainable future.

New era, new home

The new brand strategy was finally brought to life through this identity. After sharing it with the team, it was time to transfer it to all of RatedPower's touchpoints. From their social media profiles to their product to their digital home. We will share the ambitious product design and development project very soon.
